Barter Design

Part of Barter’s approach states: “Using local resources and seeking knowledge, we aim to strengthen our community with timeless objects and ideas that carry value.” They have a storefront on E 15th Ave in East Vancouver where they showcase their beautiful west coast furniture made from locally-sourced woods. 

Caliper Studio

Caliper’s “work is deeply rooted in architecture and handcraft, merging the two and forming a unique world of furniture”, says founder and former architect Mark Aseltine. Mark’s architectural background is evident in his stunning technical work, which can be seen here.

J&S Custom Furniture Co.

These guys take “pride in turning quality materials into timeless pieces of handmade furniture for living and work spaces while promoting sustainable and eco-friendly business practices”, according to their website. They do everything from cabinetry to millwork and known as one of Vancouver’s top reclaimed wood furniture builders. Their craftsman-made work can be seen here.

Cordova Woodworking

The owner of Cordova Woodworking, Sam Hunt, says “I aim to design and build thoughtful and creative pieces for every room of the home, that never compromises on quality, material or function.” He builds incredible timeless pieces with a Scandinavian + mid-century flair, which can be seen here.

Chapel Arts

According to their website, “Chapel Arts promotes the use of local hardwood while creating volumes of one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces.” With their workshop in East Van and a must-see showroom in Mount Pleasant, Chapel Arts is one of Vancouver’s go-to shops for live edge slab tables. “Working on both residential and commercial projects Gavin provides unique design solutions with an emphasis on craftsmanship”, says the Gavin Goodall website. Drew De Panicis, owner of Bueno Custom Furniture, believes that “people have an intimate and subconscious connection with the spaces and objects they interact with”, according to the Bueno website.
